Julia celebrated her seventh birthday with her first-ever party today at – where else? – McDonalds. About 15 classmates, neighbors and church friends dropped their shoes in the communal bin to slide, climb and dine in the elegant ambience of chicken nuggets and ketchup packets.
Pre-Party Frivolity. Rachel, Lois and Hannah ran food orders, tied shoes and served cake. As my mother used to say, “Your legs are younger than mine.”
Life is good when you get to sit at the head of the table in a hamburger-shaped chair.

Good thing french fries are….ummmm…easy to chew.
