Do Re Mi So Proud (Again)

Stick a fork in us.  Region choir is done.

Hannah – back row, center – with the Region XII Middle School Treble Choir singing “Gloria Tibi.”  This was the first year for Hannah-the-Alto to compete – and she made it.   Twenty-nine schools from across SE Texas were represented, with their students wearing their specfic choir gear.  I chaperoned for our school, and for some reason I got the boys, certainly foreign territory  I would fetch four or five of them at a time, line them up with their garment bags, and bark out a prepared check-list of items to verify.  “Tux shirt?  Check.  Bowtie?  Check.  Black socks?  Check. etc.”  Of 25 boys, two had to call home for forgotten black shoes, and five for missing undershirts.   One boy couldn’t call home because he’d forgotten his cell phone, and didn’t know his home phone number.  I pulled him aside later advising, “Sweetie, piece of advice.  Memorize your home phone number.”

Lois – back row, second from left as 6th chair Alto – with the Region XII High School Treble Choir singing “Angels Watchin’ Over Me.”   I pray they always do.  More than 1400 students competed for the 240 spots.  I might have done a bit of (discreet) toe-tappin’, head hitchin’, chair dancin’ with the choir.

Of course, the best thing about concerts is getting to wear your sister’s custom-printed commemorative shirt while she performs.
